Overview
Routeden provides safety-informed routing and map information for Austin, Texas. This policy describes what data the app collects, why it is used, and how it is protected.
Location
Routeden requests iOS When In Use location only. Location is used to show nearby safety information, center the map, calculate routes, and optionally share your position with friends you approve.
Data we collect
- Approximate location (250m grid cells) for safety scores and user reports
- Precise coordinates when you request routes, save commutes, share location with friends, or send SOS / check-ins
- Account information (email, phone, display name) if you sign in
- Community place photos and reviews you choose to submit
- Push notification tokens if you enable notifications
Data retention
Inactive accounts and stale location-sharing sessions may be purged after extended periods of inactivity. Commute score history is retained for trend display.
Safety reports
User safety reports store grid cell identifier, report type, and optional note — not precise GPS with the report itself.
Sharing & SOS
If you enable location sharing or use safety check-ins, coordinates may be sent to Routeden's backend and, for SOS, to contacts you choose.
Third parties
Routeden does not sell personal data. We use Apple platform services, Supabase (database and auth), our routing backend (GraphHopper), Google Places (server-side place enrichment), and Upstash Redis (rate limiting) to provide the app.
